A four-movement orchestral work conceived from themes written over many years. Its movements look back on life before COVID-19, enter the pandemic’s uncertainty and darkest hours, and conclude with rescue and survival. Performed by the Rome Symphony Orchestra in Rome, Georgia, conducted by Jeffrey Dokken.

Variations on a Theme from Tisha B’Av

A simple melody in B-flat major becomes a theme and seven piano variations, moving through major and minor before returning to consolation and hope. Concert pianist Raffi Kasparian performed the work at the Lyceum in Alexandria, Virginia, on July 11, 2022.
